Best Ways to Relieve Stress

Stress is something we all deal with. Whether it’s from work, family, friends, relationships, or financial problems, we all live with it. A little stress can be good for you but too much is where it does harm. Here are some ways I found useful for dealing with stress.

Breathe. As an immediate defense against stress, take a deep breath. Taking a deep breath each time you feel stressed can help you relieve up to half of all built up stress and prevent it from taking over.

Communicate. Talk to someone, whether it is to a friend or yourself. Ask yourself how you can get over concerns. Writing down concerns and keeping a journal about what’s bothering you can be a therapy of its own.
Humor. Make fun of the situation; even allow others to laugh at it. Find a way to crack some jokes about what’s stressing you out. Laughing can be the best medicine and it goes around.

Take it easy. Sometimes doing nothing at all can help bring down stress levels. Learn to meditate and let the stress go.

Music. Listening to music is a good way to bring the stress down, only if it has nothing to do with your situation (eg. heartbreak). Music is a known mood changer which can bring your mood up and help bring stress down.

Exercise. Exercise has been proven to physically help relieve stress. Regular exercise releases a hormone known as endorphins; a hormone that just makes you feel good.
