This article will
tell you how
tension forms and
gets intensified. ( check
the article Scale of braveness as a
reference. )

Tension is a very strange emotion. To
define tension, it
is our inner
curiosity to know
the result. Weather
it is about
looking for the
result of an
interesting cricket match
(0r) the moment
when a single
mouse click will
give your most
awaiting examination results.
The gravity of
this emotion is
inversely proportional to
the predictability of
the result we
are looking for.
For an instance,
if India needs
15 runs in
the last over
the predictability is
less, so the tension
will be high.
But if the
requirement is just
one run, then
our tension won’t
be as much
as before. Because
the sub-conscious mind
will believe that
India has believable
higher chances to
win in this
case. If it
believes India’s achievement
with 100% surety,
there won’t be
anything to get
tensed.
Tension is the
message of our
sub-conscious mind which
says: ‘’ hay! Do something
to know the
result. Please reveal
me the suspense
by going whichever
extent. ‘’
In thriller movies, cricket matches
we can’t go
forth to know
the result. But
in nail biting
thriller novels, often we
turn the papers
(Or) go forth directly
to the climax
pages to know
the twist.
Remember,
when you watching
your first thriller
movie, perhaps you tried
to know the
result by asking
somebody who knows.
But later while
watching thrillers you
will be embarrassed
to know the
twist before the
film reveals it.
The reason is
there, your sub-conscious
mind is looking
for the later
thrill ( here, the joy
of knowing it. )
rather than knowing
it before.
When our examination
results are announced, sometimes we
don’t dare to see them
immediately. Because, our
fear ( feeling of
loss (Or) loss. ) dominates our
tension. That means
there, the quotient
of fear is
greater than the
quotient of tension. ( Qf > Qt )
The 2 important
aspects which we
require for the
formation of tension
are:
1. The
thing which is
going on should
hold our attention
and interest. Otherwise,
we don’t care
about the result.
So, no tension
will be formed.
2. The
result should be
unknown.
We used to
go through the
game of guessing
the result by
analyzing things to
feel that we
are intellectual enough.
To kill tension
only thing we
can do is
not caring about
the result.
Another
interesting nature of
tension is it
will grow very
quickly and it
is hard for us to
get control over
it. The more
the time period
you are experiencing
it, the strong
it grow.
