No matter how much you love your boyfriend/girlfriend you
might find yourself with a wandering eye, checking out other people and toying
with the idea of being with someone else. What does it mean? Here are 8 reasons
why you might start looking elsewhere:
A1. You’re bored.
Sometimes you might be totally crazy about your partner but you might be just
bored in your life or in your relationship. Thinking about being with someone
else can be exhilarating or seem exciting and risqué, which might be a welcome
distraction from your boredom.
A2. You’re not attracted to your partner
anymore. You might have grown really close as a couple but maybe
you’re not attracted to your partner anymore. Your eye might start wandering to
people that you find more attractive.
A3. You’re looking for an ego boost.
Knowing that you can snag another partner is a huge ego boost, especially if
they are the one perusing you. You can feel underappreciated in a relationship
after a while and knowing that someone else desires you can give you a sense of
validation.
A4. Revenge. If your partner has
cheated on you, or is simply neglecting you, you might think of being with
someone else as a way to get revenge. If this is the case it’s probably better
to just end it and move on.
A5. You want to make them jealous.
Sometimes people want to make their partners jealous – to get back at them for
hurting them, or sometimes just to stir things up in a complacent
relationship. Toying with the idea of
cheating might be tempting if you’re looking for ways to make your partner
jealous.
A6. You’re simply not happy. A
wandering eye can often just be a sign that you’re not happy in the
relationship anymore. If you’ve gotten everything out of it that you think you
can, it’s time to just move on.
A7. You want to confirm your choice.
Wanting to confirm that you’re with the right person often causes a wandering
eye. Sometimes you might look at who else is out there to see what other
options you have, only to confirm that you’ve made the right choice. It’s ok to
look, just don’t act on it.
A8. You’re looking for something that your
partner is missing. There might be something that your partner
lacks that you really want in your relationship. Maybe they aren’t a good
listener and you’re looking for someone to talk to. Try working on the issue
with your partner before jumping ship to someone else.
