Psychology & Handwriting Analysis: Size
Aristotle
spoke of dividing man into three aspects: the mind, the body,
and the spirit: “Speech is the expression of ideas or thoughts or desires.
Handwriting is the visible form of speech. Just as speech can have inflections
of emotions, somewhere in handwriting is an expression of the emotions
underlying the writer’s thoughts, ideas, or desires.”
Meaning: The
size of the writing reveals whether a person is feeling socially extroverted or
introverted. It also reveals your capacity for concentration.
Note:
Sometimes your size changes, look at the definitions that describe your mood.
1.
Overly Large Handwriting:
- This person demands to be seen & heard
- This writer overdoes (exaggerates) the size in compensation for an inner feeling of smallness and/or unimportance
- Obsession with attention & will go to great lengths to obtain it
- Displays obsessive tendencies by writing huge letters (to call attention on himself)
2.
Large Handwriting (in general):
- Reaches out to other people
- Feeling social
- Unwilling to concentrate on small details
- Wants to be noticed by others
- This writer goes to many places
- Does not like limited territory
- Reasons Why: [Reason 1]: The desire to be big & important - “Look at me. I’m big & important. I’m impressive, & I want you to know it.” [Reason 2]: Extravagance - some large writers are flamboyant people who lean toward the lavish & luxurious lifestyle. [Reason 3]: Big planners - these people tend to see the “big picture,” they perceive matters on the grand scale who might take overwhelming projects. [Reason 4]: Showing off, these are usually fancy dressers who gesture broadly, take big steps, talk loudly, and seem to burst forth upon the scene.

Medium Handwriting:
- If the writing is neither “big” nor “small,” then this person is feeling normally social and who has average ability to concentrate
- There’s not that much definitions to medium, but it’s considered an ‘ideal’ size when you usually write

Small Handwriting:
- Small means introversion, this person is not reaching out to people expansively, instead he is holding himself tightly to a limited space -which also shows in your handwriting
- Four Reasons: [Reason 1]: Introversion - this is the tendency to direct one’s interest upon oneself rather than on external objects, people, and events. Feeling of wanting to be alone. This is shutting down stimuli, resulting in restricted movements by the hands. [Reason 2]: Concentration - in the mood to concentrate on small details, by shutting out stimuli, as your mind narrows its focus - the hand automatically limits itself. [Reason 3]: Small self-image - these people feel small in importance, shrunken self-esteem with letters that are small and weakly made. [Reason 4]: Economy - These people do not wish to waste paper, usually compulsively economical in all aspects of their life

Microscopic Handwriting:
- Extreme writing results an extreme in personality, few people write this way, they are shrinking within themselves and/or concentrating to an exaggerated degree. There is nothing in this world at the moment except for himself and his thoughts, exceptionally introverted, tuning out the entire world.
- Two Distinctions of Micro Writing: [Distinction 1]: Teeny & ‘read-able’ handwriting - This is a deep thinker, the truly deep thinker becomes intensely introverted in order to descend deep within himself and satisfy a quest for personal knowledge, Gandhi also wrote this way - it’s from hours of meditation, of being alone [Distinction 2]: Teeny & unread-able handwriting, and is distorted, it’s only when you cannot read their handwriting AT ALL - This is a disturbed person. This person is cut off from normal environmental relationships.
